Empowering creatives to pursue their passions

Meet Carol

Hello & Welcome

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to our continued connection online.

In every painting I paint – be it commissioned or not -  I strive to use color and design to stir your senses and invite you to stop for a moment to allow your head & heart to go beyond the boundaries of the frame. Depth is created to provoke a thought, a question or to reflect upon something in your life experience. The layers, in my abstracts, represent our need to explore in order to grow as humans; the juxtaposition of the geometric with the organic conveys that differences can co-exist.

Much like a musician, I choose a particular ‘color chord’ to convey harmony and unity throughout. When I was kindergarten, I was asked to state my two favorite colors. I said, “Orange and red.” My mother reports that I arrived home very upset because the teacher said that orange and red don’t go together. Apparently, even at that age I knew they were analogous colors!

My Artist’s Story:
At age 36 I unlocked the artistic vault that I had kept sealed for over 15 years. In 1987 and I traded my blue suits of corporate life in for an artist’s smock shortly after my late mother-in-law introduced me to watercolors. The Twin Cities (MN) offered fine art education through their network of city-wide art centers. I attended the Minneapolis College of Art & Design and workshops instructed by nationally known artists. The state watercolor society captured my heart, hence I served as President of the Minnesota Watercolor Society (1992-94). In 2004, I founded & curated the Celebrate 22 Miles! exhibition held at The Edina Art Center; this exhibit commemorated the significance of the Minnehaha Creek that runs through the Twin Cities.

Here I am with my best buddy, Kyla

My work has been honored with awards in regional & national shows. The large body of work I created from 1996-2002, entitled “No Time for Idle Hands,” traveled the west & mid-west. My hand portraits were the cover story of Watercolor, a national arts magazine. This series also led me to write a memoir about this life altering experience; entitled “Painting My Passion: An Artist’s Journey with the Women of the West.”

I am privileged to be a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and granted (through juried processes) the associate memberships of the Pastel Society of America and the Oil Painters of America. I also participate in Colorado’s statewide pastel society and other local art organizations.

Below are photographs of my studio as featured in Art Calendar, March, 2007, a national art magazine. You are welcome to visit! Call 719-510-0006 (CO) for an appointment. I am located 20 miles north of Colorado Springs, CO.
